KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia condemns in the strongest terms the large-scale Israel’s military attack in Rafah, a Palestine city in southern Gaza where millions of displaced civilians are seeking refuge.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, this irresponsible, illegal and inhumane assault will worsen the current humanitarian catastrophe, exacerbate tension in the region, and further derail efforts towards immediate cessation of hostilities and permanent ceasefire.
“Malaysia demands Israel to immediately desist and abide by its obligations under international law. This dastardly military clearly vindicates the key goal by the Zionist regime to annihilate the Palestinians from their own land.
“It again demonstrates their blatant disregard of fundamental principles of international law and a clear contempt of the rulings by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on 26 January 2024 on the six provisional measures,” the Ministry said in its statement today (Monday).
The statement stressed the international community cannot let this belligerent act continues without impunity by one of its members.
In this regard, Malaysia echoes the calls by the United Nations Secretary-General for an immediate halt to the vile plan and urges the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take swift and decisive action to stop the massacre being perpetrated by the Zionist regime.
The statement also highlighted that this includes compelling responsible members of the international community to suspend support to the regime.
“Malaysia’s resolute support and solidarity with the Palestinian people remain unwavering, including towards their right to self-determination, the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine and accepted as a full member of the UN,” the statement reiterated.
In another development, the Palestine News Agency-WAFA in its report said the Israel’s attack on Rafah early Monday morning had killed 100 members of the public including women, children and hundred others were injured.
It is reported that 1.4 million Palestinians are currently in Rafah after the Israel’s military forced them to move in large numbers from the north to south Gaza. – Malaysia World News
