PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad reminds the Malaysians not to repeat the past mistakes to enable the country’s peacefulness be preserved and the national developmental programmes continue.
For that he said, the people should understand the history of the country so that the past wrong doings are avoided for progress to take place and the country’s wealth could be distributed fairly among the people.
The Prime Minister believes that the wealth of the country should not only be distributed just among the supporters of the government (Pakatan Harapan) but to all the people.
He said, if the wealth of the country are not distributed and enjoyed “fairly” by all the races in the country then the government cannot assume they have been successful in developing the nation.
“I am confident the people do not want to repeat the past mistakes and because of history you see where Malaysia is today,’’ Dr. Mahathir said at the monthly gathering with staff of the Prime Minister’s Department – the first for 2019 here (Jan.14).
The Prime Minister also stressed that if all the three main races in Malaysia and the various ethnic groups in Sabah and Sarawak could unite, “work, live and play” together, the country could be more advanced and progressive.
Dr. Mahathir also mentioned the racial riot that had occurred in 1969 was of no benefit to the people and the country.
However he said, although there is no such riot happening now, but there is still a gap existing among races and this is not safe for the country. –Malaysia World News
