PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said his new party Pejuang would reject the 2021 Budget because the government ignored calls to amend it.
“There is no sign on the part of the Government to hear or accept the views expressed by members of parliament or the criticism of the people,” he said in a posting on his Facebook.
Mahathir also accuses the Government of threatening MPs with the narrative that if the 2021 Budget is rejected then the salaries, allowances and pensions of civil servants and “frontliners” cannot be paid.
He also reiterated that if the Budget does not pass it will not prevent the distribution of salaries, pensions and allowances of civil servants and “frontliners”. Similarly, financial assistance for the needs of the people will not be affected.
