The meeting with the Prime Minister is very important as to explain how important and necessary are the military assets to MAF to maintain the defence and security of the country, said Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
“I have met the Prime Minister and forwarded the requests of MAF and if there is no restraint, it is good for MAF Service Commanders to meet him and rationalize the purchase of military assets in times of economic uncertainties,” he told the media after launching the “Nadwah Scientific Programme to Senior Officers (NAIM) 2017 in Wisma Perwira here Tuesday.
Subsequently the Syariah Indexs of Ministry of Defence was also launched.
Also present the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom; Deputy Minister of Defence Datuk Seri Mohd. Johari Baharum, Chief of MAF, General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor and other senior officers.
The NAIM programme was attended by MAF officers in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and at par, Grade 48 Senior Civil Servants and invited guests from Royal Malaysia Police, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Custom Department, Immigration Department, Fire and Rescue Department, Prison Department, Islamic Religious Department and State Muftis.
On the question of loose security control at the borders of Malaysia that would also made the accessibility of IS and DAESH more easily, Hishammuddin said, the government is taking all possible steps and actions to strengthen the land borders in Sabah and Sarawak.
Nevertheless he said, the IS and DAESH propagandas are very difficult to control and it will be an endless challenge to the world today. However, in Malaysia’s context the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) and Military Religious Corps (KAGAT) have formulated a clear direction to guide the MAF personnel.
Hishammuddin also urged the Malaysian public to use the social media to fight against the IS and DAESH influences. The militant groups are aggressively using the social media to gain support from viewers all over the world.
He also said the setting of “Task Force Perisai Wira”, is in line with the King Salman Centre for International Peace (KSCIP) which was established in Kuala Lumpur, aimed at stopping the influence of extremism.
“So far we have not received report of any military personnel’s involvement in the IS and DAESH extremists group.
“What we emphasized today is the inner strength that includes high integrity and counter narrative towards extremist ideology amongst MAF and ministry’s staff. To provide physical strength and skill to the military personnel is not enough if they have no perseverance to face today’s challenges,” he said relating to NAIM 2017 programme.
The programme he said, has several objectives and amongst them are to empower the leaders of security agencies to understand the meaning of Maqasid Syariah (to establish goodness and stop badness); to enrich the integrity value through Maqasid Syariah based on five cores namely religion, life, intelligence, generation and property and to ensure MAF personnel are not involved in terrorism and DAESH militant activities.-Malaysia World News
