KUALA LUMPUR SEPT.2: The Ministry of Defence will manage and improve the high rate of COVID-19 infection situations in five states namely Sabah, Johor, Kedah, Pulau Pinang and Kelantan.
Senior Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said, to manage the situation in the five states will be the priority focus of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) as combating COVID-19 pandemic is among the national agenda and most important issue for MAF to realize.
“MAF has the infrastructures, assets and sufficient number of experts and ready to be mobilised at any time,” Hishammuddin said in a statement here today.
Hishammuddin also stressed that MAF through the Armed Forces’ Health Services is ready to assist the government to build MAF Field Hospital in the states that has been identified by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The Senior Minister added, the Field Hospital will assist in giving treatment to COVID-19 patients especially those in Category 3 and above.
“I believe MAF’s assistance will be able to lessen the burden that has been shouldered by MOH in the affected states. As being announced by the Minister of Health, Khairy Jamaluddin yesterday, among the priorities now is to increase the supply and to intensify the vaccination process in the five states.
“MAF is ready to help with its vaccination teams especially in the remote areas that are difficult for MOH to reach,” Hishammuddin said.
He added, MAF will also help other states to combat COVID-19 and this includes increasing the capacity of vaccination rate via drive through for members of the public like what has been decided by the National Security Council (NSC) Special Meeting.
“MAF is now waiting for COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) to confirm the location for the people’s vaccination,” Hishammuddin reiterated. –Malaysia World News
