LANGKAWI – The Malaysia top defence show, Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition and Conference is going to be bigger and better next year, with 1,200 companies from 60 countries are anticipated to take part in this upcoming event.

Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said that, for its 30thanniversary next year, the upcoming DSA 2018 will be held for the first time at the brand-new Malaysia International Trade Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur, on 16 to 19 April 2018.

“The upcoming DSA 2018 is expected to occupy 42,000 sqm of space, an expansion up to 30 percent in show size. The Thales and Italian pavilion will be among the key exhibitors.

“We can offer 45 percent more heavy and large exhibits area as each level of the venue is able to support heavy weight and also provides easy access for exhibits with heavy load at their spacious loading bays,” he said.

Since its debut show in 1988 with only 394 participating companies, DSA has more than tripled in size, and become more than just a showcase of the latest defence technologies, weaponries and services.

Hishammuddin said, he is excited about the upcoming DSA 2018 because the organizer will also introduce National Security Asia (NatSec Asia), an International Exhibition on National Security for Asia.

“The uniqueness of this particular security show is that NatSec Asia will be held alongside the already established DSA. This will be a well-established launch pad for the new show.

“DSA 2018 will bring together various government and military agencies, and defence mechanisms from across the region, in the interest of forging greater alliance and trust between all parties,” he said.

In the meantime, Hishammuddin and the Chairman of DSA’s, Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin also witness the signing participation contracts for DSA 2018, at the 14th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA’17).

The contract was signed by the Italy Ediconsult Internazionale SRL Chief Executive Officer, Ida De Mari and Thales Country Director, Nicolas De Fougeroux.

DSA exhibition next year is going to be 40 percent bigger than before- almost 50 percent of its space already sold, according to Asmat Kamaludin.
