KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia is moving a step ahead through the official launching of AI Malaysia, an important leap towards achieving the aspiration of AI Nation in 2030.
In his Facebook post on Tuesday, Anwar said the initiative is expected to benefit 100,000 youths which is an important step to enable the young generation not only to be users of technology but to become value creator, innovation explorer and to spur Malaysian development in future.
“As the core implementing entity, AI Malaysia spurs the National AI Action Plan 2026-2030 to lead AI adaptation safely and responsible through the support of AI Malaysia Safety Institute.
“The future of this digital will be owned by all of us. This is the beginning that is very important for the sake of prosperity, safety and the future of the country.
“Let us shoulder together to drive the inclusive future of the nation, safe and competent for the prosperity of all the people of Malaysia,” he said.
Meanwhile, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said AI Malaysia was established following two years of engagement between the National AI Office and various sectors to evaluate the requirements for national readiness.
He added, AI Malaysia will support two key policy frameworks: the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint 2030 (MD 2030) and the Malaysia AI Plan 2026-2030.
“MD 2030 aims to boost the digital economy to contribute at least 30 per cent of the gross domestic product by 2030. The Malaysia AI Plan 2026-2030 focuses on driving national Ai transformation across three pillars: government, the public and industry.
“Malaysia must ensure its AI transition is inclusive and benefits all segments of society,” he said after launching AI Malaysia Berhad as quoted by NST.
According to Gobind, the government will continue to focus on three principles – awareness, access and adoption-while prioritizing local capabilities and supporting domestic businesses in adopting AI solutions.
