KUALA LUMPUR JUNE 8: His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah received a courtesy call from Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan at Istana Negara today.

Istana Negara in a statement posted in its Facebook said, His Majesty and Prince Faisal had touched on the strong bilateral ties between the government of Malaysia and Saudi Arabia since 1957 in the 30 minute meeting that started at 11 am.

The statement added, the meeting that was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah had also discussed on the efforts to strengthen the trade and economy between the two countries.

Also present at the meeting was Pahang Regent Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah. Also in attendance was Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Malaysia, Datuk Dr.Mahmoud Hussein Saeed Qattan.

The audience with Al-Sultan Abdullah was among the programmes lined up for Prince Faisal’s inaugural two day official visit to Malaysia that started yesterday.

“His Majesty had expressed his appreciation and happiness on the special relationship between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia in various aspects including the contribution and aids granted to Malaysia in combating the COVID-19 infections and the post pandemic recovery.

“Both the leaders have also touched on the measures to increase and expand the cooperation and investments in various fields,” the statement added.

His Majesty also expressed his appreciation to the government of Saudi Arabia on the post pandemic COVID-19 quota given to the Malaysian pilgrims and hoped they would perform their Hajj rituals smoothly.

 The statement also mentioned His Majesty’s happiness on Saudi Arabia being one of the largest export markets for Malaysia’s palm oil and increase in the demand for the commodity. In 2021 the export of palm oil to Saudi Arabia had reached RM1.763 billion (USD 0.5 billion).

His Majesty also expressed his appreciation to Prince Faisal on the invitation for his official visit to Saudi Arabia.

The statement added, His Majesty prayed for King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al- Saud who is the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, be blessed with good health and long life and wished peace and prosperity for the Kingdom.-Malaysia World News
