Khairy: Donald Trump should respect the international law

KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands of Malaysians protested in front of the embassy of United States of America on Friday against US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel.

The demonstration was headed by UMNO Youth Chief, Khairy Jamaluddin who called Donald Trump`s move as illegal.

 “He (Trump) should not even put a foot in Jerusalem as it is an occupied territory.

“If Trump continues with his plan he will witness the uprising of nations in the world going against the USA’s government.

“Donald Trump should respect the international law and stop discriminating the Palestinians,” Khairy said, using a loud speaker in front of more than 4,000 Muslims after Friday prayer at Tabung Haji Mosque near Jalan Tun Razak here.

Khairy also stressed that the protest does not only involve the Muslims because the religious leader of the Vatican City, Pope Francis and European leaders have also made their stand on this issue.

Khairy who is also the Minister of Youth and Sports said, he and the Vice Youth Chief Khairul Azwan Harun had handed over a memorandum to the US embassy’s representative at 2.30pm.

When handing over the memorandum, Khairy had mentioned to the representative that Donald Trump’s action is ” beyond the limit”.

“We will not stop until you (US) return Palestine’s land to the Palestinians. We are not here to have a conflict but we want to ensure that Trump respects and follows the law, and not continuously discriminating the Palestinians who want independence and freedom,” he said.

Also present at the demonstration were representatives from Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association, Malaysian Youth Council, Aman Palestine, Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCare) Pas leaders and also Hamas leaders from Palestine. – Malaysia World News.
