ALOR SETAR: Kedah will not issue any new licences for gambling premises in the state as its authorities will ban all sorts of gambling activities including 4D lottery.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the ban will “ensure that Kedah will be free from gambling.”

“Local authorities will not approve any application for gambling licence renewal,” he said during a press conference after tabling the state 2022 Budget.

Muhammad Sanusi said gambling is a social ill activity that has caused a negative impact on families.

“I also refuse to be scolded by others if I did not do anything on this.

“Those who want to gamble can go to Penang,” he said, adding that as a Muslim and head of state he has the obligation to adhere to God’s instruction.

He also added that the state government will also restrict the sales of alcohol in the state.
