ALOR SETAR: Albukhary International University (AIU) is offering 200 scholarships for selected Malaysian students who wish to pursue foundation or bachelor degree studies. Registration is still open until the end of October.
The Vice Chancellor, who is also the President of AIU, Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Abd. Aziz Tajuddin, said this full scholarship sponsorship is for the October session. The full scholarship is given by Yayasan Albukhary to excellent local students who face financial problems to cover their studies.
“Currently, AIU accommodates 1,126 students from Malaysia and abroad. They are all sponsored by the Albukhary Foundation.
“The scholarship sponsorship includes tuition fees, nice accommodation, and a monthly allowance amounting to RM450 per month for a period of three to four years of study. The dormitories are equipped with the best and latest facilities for every student.
“We offer our students everything they need; they only have to concentrate on their studies,” he said in a meeting with international delegates who visited AIU yesterday after attending the 12th World Zakat & Waqf Forum which took place in Kedah on 17th to 20th October.
He said there is no private university in the world offering free education and full scholarships to their students, except AIU.
“We believe that sponsoring scholarships to help poor students get higher education would change their fate.
“At the same time, the action also has a big impact on the government in its efforts to bridge the poverty gap in this country,” he added.
