To keep Johor Beautiful, all Johorians are invited to join the largest ever textile recycling campaign event at the Lotus’s Desa Tebrau branch on Saturday 23rd April 2022 and Sunday 24th April 2022 from 09:00am to 16:00pm, which is happening in conjunction with the Earth Day.

This initiative is taken by Lotus in collaboration with Life Line Clothing Malaysia (LLCM), the leading ISO Certified textile recycler and community-driven, sustainable lifestyle brand Upcycle4Better (U4B).

The first fifty attendees and participants who donate their old clothes and tag Upcycle4Better in social media posts, will receive a free upcycled baju kurung shopping bag made by the community of home sewers that they deal with.

In a statement on Wednesday from Life Line Clothing Malaysia’s Head of Business Development, Mr. Andrew Jackson, said “The event’s objective is to raise awareness for the importance of textiles recycling and to support the every-day people within the community, with a portion of money raised from the event, going to help up to 63 different schools under the Lotus charity program.

“Textile waste is a global problem and the fashion industry is the second largest polluting industry in the world, second only to oil and gas.”

You can donate your old clothes, toys, household items, shoes, hats and bags at this weekends event, however if you are unable to join, there is a permanent clothes collection bin located at Lotus’s Desa Tebrau.

Mr Dale Warren, CEO of Life Line Clothing Malaysia, urges Johorians to help reduce landfill waste and help the environment by getting involved.

“We are proud to announce that we have rolled out a new permanent bin collection program with Lotus in Johor, continuing our 7 year relationship, where we already collect hundreds of tonnes per year from their locations in Selangor.

“The event this weekend is a big step in the right direction and we are very thankful for the opportunity,” he said.

At the event you will also have the opportunity to meet one of the famous U4B tailors, Mr Rahim Yusof, a disabled Kelantanese man born without arms who sews with his feet. U4B works with the local home-based sewers to then turn a portion of the collected materials into new fashion and lifestyle items.

Also attending the event are Miss Plus World Malaysia 1st Runner Up Nicole and Ms Plus Intercontinental Malaysia 2021/22 Anna Liza. Miss Plus World Malaysia organized by Media Path Enterprise is a beauty pageant that focuses on women empowerment, body positivity and humanitarian services.

Come and support this recycle drive and donate your old unwanted clothes. Help us keep our beautiful state, Johor beautiful!
