KUALA LUMPUR 26 Dis. – The police today detained the President of Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM), Datuk Azwanddin Hamzah Ariffin Abu Bakar alleged for uttering words of threat at a rally held in Klang on Christmas holiday.
Selangor CID Chief, Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said, Azwanddin was picked up by the police at the Kompleks Keramat Mall, Jalan Datuk Keramat, here at 2.40pm.
“He is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidations as well as 504 for insulting someone.
“Azwanddin will be remanded at Klang court tomorrow (Dec 27) at 9am,” Fadzil said in a statement today.
The JMM president in his speech at the rally was alleged to have uttered words with elements of threat to attack the police station if no action was taken in the murder case of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd. Kassim.
Muhammad Adib, 24, suffered serious injuries after being assaulted while participating in a fire fighting operation during a temple riot on Nov.27. He died on Dec.17 at the National Heart Institute.
To date, 24 people have been charged in connection with the riot at Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya.
Yesterday (Dec.25) Azwanddin at the peaceful rally in search for justice for Adib and demand for P. Waytha Moorthy’s resignation had made a statement with elements of threat.
The rally was organised by Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Geras).
Meanwhile Geras President Abu Bakar Mohamad expressed his regrets saying that the JMM president went against the guidelines set by Geras to all the speakers at the rally.- Malaysia World News
