KUALA LUMPUR: The Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) had won over Kedah 3-0 in the Malaysia Cup 2019 final match following its over-powering performance at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil on Saturday (November 2) evening.

The success of the Southern Tigers to grab the second Malaysia Cup title was contributed by goals scored from Leandro Velazquez (27th minutes) Safawi Rasid (35th) and Shafiq Ahmad (57th minute) while the third goal had locked Kedah from scoring until the end of the 90 minutes game.

The one sided game was partly due to the absence of two Kedah’s players; centre back Renan Alves and right back Rizal Ghazali as a result of their “suspension”.

The match was rated 65% possession by JDT’s skilful players while Kedah team 35% even though they had tried to make a strong counter attack in the last few minutes before the game ended.

Meanwhile, JDT’s player, Safawi Rasid, 22, who scored 11 goals throughout the championship, emerged as the Best Player in the 2019 Malaysia Cup.
