Israel-Palestine conflict: PM Anwar to attend the 8th Extraordinary Islamic Summit of OIC in Saudi Arabia

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is attending the 8th Extraordinary Islamic Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on 11th November 2023 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression, cruelty and inhumanity in Palestine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement said, Prime Minister will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd. Kadir and senior government officials.

The statement added, the 8th Extraordinary Islamic Summit will be hosted by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and will be attended by leaders and representatives of the OIC Member States.

“The Summit was preceded by two preparatory meetings namely the OIC Ministerial Meeting on 10th November 2023 and OIC Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) on 9th November 2023.

“The Summit is a culmination of the Prime Minister’s intense engagements with several OIC Leaders. The Prime Minister will address the Summit, highlighting among others, Malaysia’s firm position on the urgency to effectively and permanently end Israel’s genocide acts against the Palestinians in Gaza.

“In Gaza a crisis of humanity has been unfolding as well as the necessity for OIC Member States and the rest of the international community to address the plight and sufferings of the Palestinians,” the statement reiterated.

According to the statement, the Summit is expected to adopt a Final Communiqué. –Malaysia World News
