Ismail: Investigations on alleged criminal and abuse of power cases in the Army will continue

KUALA LUMPUR MAR 13: The Ministry of Defence will continue investigating any pending case involving the ministry and its officers of corruption and abuse of power alleged by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government in the last 22 months.

Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said investigations on all the alleged cases will continue as usual.

 He also said that the Defence White Paper will also be improved and any amendment will be presented in the Dewan Rakyat for the Members of Parliament to approve.

 Ismail who has clocked in his office yesterday said: “The Malaysian Armed Forces are always at its highest level of readiness and at the same time working hard for improvement,” Ismail said in his first media conference after having briefed by the ministry’s high ranking officials here today.

 He also mentioned apart from focusing on the military and defence responsibilities, the Ministry will also take care of the welfare and well being of its staffs, veterans and establish a good relationship with the civilians/people.

 Elaborating on the relationship with the people Ismail reiterated, the Armed Forces is not an exclusive body but continuously building a good relationship with the people in line with the concept “The Army and People are Inseparable”.

 “Repairing old houses and building roads in the rural areas are amongst the people’s programmes that have been done all these years by the Armed Forces under the “gotong royong” concept,” Ismail said.

 Regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, Ismail said a special committee has been formed to monitor and oversee the virus effects on military staffs.

 There has been no COVID-19 case amongst the army. Ismail said that the ministry is closely following the Ministry of Health’s instructions regarding the organization of mass gatherings and meetings. -Malaysia World News
