KUCHING: The ministry will not hesitate to blacklist any company or contractor who fails to carry out its responsibilities, especially on the initiatives involving the welfare of the army personnel, their families and the veterans, said Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
“Do not blame us if your company is being blacklisted and the ministry does not grant you any contract.
“We want to ensure that the ministry’s initiatives are being implemented according to the stipulated plan for the prosperity and comfort of the armed forces’ families,” he said to the media after making a surprise visit at the Penrissen Camp, on Tuesday.
Generally there is not much problem as most of the ministry’s plans and programmes have been completed, some in the process of building and in the planning stage as this agenda runs continuously, Hishammuddin added.
Also present were Chief of Malaysian Armed Forces, General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor, Secretary General, Ministry of Defence, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Mohamad Radzi, and Eastern Field Command (EFC) Commander, Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd. Zaki Mokhtar.

The surprise visit which started this month was under the initiative of “Jelajah Perkasa Perwira” and was suggested by Hishammuddin. In the surprise visit he went to see the Penrissen Camp Polyclinic project.
Hishammuddin said that such surprise visit will be made more often to see the progress of building new amenities, upgrading the existing ones, besides making evaluation on the preparedness of the Malaysian Armed Forces’ assets in the country.
“I will not compromise with matters concerning the welfare of the MAF families and I hope those concerned will fulfil their promises,” he reiterated.
Hishammuddin, who is also the Minister with Special Functions, said four new polyclinics will be built in stages in other army camps including Kluang (Johore), Seberang Takir (Terengganu), Kuantan (Pahang), and Sungai Petani (Kedah).
These projects were mentioned in the National Budget 2017 by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, he added.
