India-ASEAN relationship to be strengthened when Malaysia becomes the chairman 2025 –PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim affirms Malaysia’s commitment to ease the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) branch campus in the country.

Anwar in a statement said, he also expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi who recently helped Malaysia in addressing the shortage of rice supplies.

“Today I received a courtesy call from Indian Foreign Minister, Dr. S Jaishankar who was in his working visit to Malaysia.

“Flanked by Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, the meeting amongst others had discussed the cooperation in trade, education, agriculture, defence, tourism, digital besides science and technology.

“My hope is for the relationship with ASEAN to be strengthened especially when Malaysia becomes the chairman next year,” Anwar said.

Meanwhile Anwar had also expressed his appreciation for Dr. S Jaishankar’s visit to Malaysia and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation for him to visit India in the near future.

“Insya Allah the relationship between Malaysia and India continues to develop and blossoms for the interest of the people from the two friendly nations,” Anwar reiterated. –Malaysia World News
