Immigration held engineer from China after failing to provide necessary documents

PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department of Malaysia (IDM) explained that the Chief Engineer from China was held back for eight hours for processing the Special Pass after he had failed to adhere to the standard operating procedure (SOP) and presented the necessarily documents.

Immigration Director General, Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud said, the man from China had failed to present his return flight ticket within 30 days and he did not upload his RTK-COVID-19 result in MySejahtera .

Khairul said, the Special Pass could not be issued following waiting for the employer to buy the return ticket and the result of the RTK uploaded into MySejahtera.

“However, after receiving the necessary documents and the RTK result uploaded into MySejahtera the Immigration Department had issued the Special Pass and Check- Out Memo in line with the procedure and the laws provided,” Khairul said in a statement here today.

The statement was issued following a Malaysiakini news portal report titled “The Immigration holding back Chief Engineer from China for 8 hours has been disputed by the industry player.”

The statement added, in general the report was explaining the statement of the Chief Executive, Maritime Network who has disputed the Immigration’s action involving a citizen from China.

Khairul advises the people whether local or foreigner to adhere to the procedures, laws and to provide with all the required information before going to the counter or any Immigration Office. –Malaysia World News
