MELAKA: A 60 year old Imam has been charged at the Session Courts for allegedly showing his genitalia to two young girls aged 4 and 13.
The Imam allegedly committed the sexual offence at the surau’s compound in Limbongan on May 28.
According to the Star, he was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act, which provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping, if convicted.
He was also charged under Section 15(a)(i) of the same Act which carries a jail term up to ten years and a fine up to RM20,000, or both, upon conviction.
The accused was also charged for possessing pornographic materials on his mobile phone at the Melaka Tengah police station at 8.45pm on June 2.
