PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad calls Perikatan Nasional (PN) government and the Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin as “illegitimate”.
“This government is in fact illegitimate.
“I think Muhyiddin is illegitimate,” he said in a video posted on his Facebook page yesterday.
He also criticised the federal government for not giving a chance to the members of parliament (MPs) to speak when the parliamentary opens on May 18.
The former Prime Minister made remarks after the parliament Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Mohd Md Yusof had earlier announced that the parliament proceeding would be for one day only (on May 18) and it will be only for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong who will deliver a Royal Address. After that it will end till further notice.
Mahathir and the opposition MPs were expecting to table a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin when the parliament starts next week.
Muhyiddin has earlier said that he and the public are not interested in politics at this time where the country is facing a health and economic crisis due to coronavirus.
