PUTRAJAYA: 334 centres have been identified by the government for Covid-19 patients quarantine, and currently there are over 4,000 people under quarantine,Director General of Health, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said,
“Hotels and resorts will be identified for quarantine purposes in two or three day’s time. These places will be guarded by the police, army, RELA and the Civil Defence Forces (APM),” he said
On the current situation of COVID-19, Dr. Noor Hisham said, as of 12 noon today, two death cases were recorded bringing the total of 45 death case, 142 new cases and that make the cumulative total to 2,908, 2,218 under treatment and 645 discharged.
The Health Director General also said, 2,359 volunteers in medical services have come forward and they include medical experts, nurses and medical officers.
He added the ministry is in need of anaesthetic expert and offered those from the private hospitals to come forward for the post.
Regarding the Ramadhan market or Pasar Ramadhan that has become the current issue being discussed among the people, Dr. Noor Hisham commented: “Whatever it is the Ministry of Health’s guideline such as people are not permitted to be in a crowd and social distancing of one meter from one another should be complied.
“Creative ideas like having e-bazaar online and drive through Pasar Ramadhan for example could be materialised without dismissing the Ministry of Health’s guidelines,” said Dr. Noor Hisham.
Director General of Health also pointed out that the Ministry of Health will purchase 200,000 antigen test kits from Korea if the reading accuracy is high on COVID-19 infection.
“With the supply of antigen test kits, 444 local health clinics can do the swab and the health testing process will be much faster.
“We now have 48 laboratories with 11,000 samples have been tested and by next week about 16,500 samples will be tested,” he said in a media conference here today.
Dr. Noor Hisham also said, if a person with COVID-19 positive died in his/her house the body will be taken to the hospital and swab will be done on the dead body before the family members go for health tests.
