SINGAPORE:Senior Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein had met the leaders of Republic of Singapore including President, Halimah Yaakob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on his working visit from 10th -12th June 2022 besides participating at the Shangri-La Dialogue organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IIS)
The Ministry of Defence in its statement said, Hishammuddin had also met with the Senior Minister and Singapore National Security Coordination Minister, Teo Chee Hean and Minister of Home Affairs and Law, K.Shanmugam.
“I had a bilateral meeting with my counterpart Ng Eng Hen to discuss in depth on the effort towards strengthening the defence cooperation between Malaysia and Singapore specifically between the military of both nations.
“We have also touched on several regional security and international issues that are of mutual concern,” Hishammuddin said in the statement.
According to Hishammuddin he was very happy as his meetings with the Singapore leaders went smoothly and in a harmonious atmosphere that had genuinely reflected the closeness and special relationship between Malaysia and Singapore over the long years.
The statement added, Hishammuddin had also met with several leaders from the ally nations all over the world. This had subsequently opened the opportunity to exchange opinions on many global issues and sharing commitments to carry defence diplomacy between the countries to a higher level.
“Among the world leaders Hishammuddin had met include United States Defence Secretary, Lloyd James Austin III ; Commander of United States Indo-Pacific Command, Admiral John C. Aquilino;. Deputy Prime Minister cum Australia’s Minister of Defence Richard Marles and Minister of National Security People’s Republic of China, General Wei Fenghe,” the statement said.-Malaysia World News
