Hishammuddin hopes UMNO is much stronger with Ahmad Zahid’s return as party president

KUALA LUMPUR JULY 1: UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the 87 charges against him in the court will not obstruct him to be the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bagan Datuk and also as the party president.

He said, he will personally face all the 87 charges in the court as it does not involve the party.

“The charges do not involve the entity of UMNO and as such I leave the case to the lawyers to handle it and at the same time I will function as UMNO President and as MP of Bagan Datuk,”he said in the press conference at the lobby of Parliament today.

Ahmad Zahid said that following his statement (Sunday) that he will resume his duties as President of UMNO even though he is facing with 87 charges in the court.

Meanwhile, he urges all his friends and party supporters at the states level, divisions and branches to open a new leaf towards UMNO leadership.

“It is like to throw the bad and take the good ones, as the Malay proverb says “Biduk lalu kiambang bertaut,” Ahmad Zahid reiterated.

In another development, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein as the former Vice President of UMNO hopes to see UMNO is united and stronger with Ahmad Zahid’s returning to the party as President.

“I do not want to see members of UMNO to “argue amongst themselves” over the latest development in the party,” he said to the media at the lobby of Parliament today.

According to Hishammuddin, UMNO’s situation is much better now as compared after the 14th General Election in May 2018.

He added, Ahmad Zahid is eligible to continue leading UMNO as stipulated in UMNO constitution and a decision has been made too.

The Sembrong MP wants to see UMNO stronger and stable even with the coming back of Ahmad Zahid to lead the party.
