Govt agreed to increase RM100 for living allowance for JPA sponsored students

BANGI: The government has agreed to increase 15 per cent of the Living Allowance (ESH) for students sponsored by the Public Service Department (JPA) at the Preparatory Level until Advanced Degree in the country and overseas.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, the increase in the ESH rate will involve students sponsored by JPA overseas except those pursuing their First Degree in the United Kingdom (UK) whose ESH rate had been increased earlier.

“It also involves the increase of RM100 for ESH per month for JPA sponsored students in the country following the level of study. The increase in the students’ allowance rate will start on 1st July 2023.

“This effort enables government sponsored students to focus on academic excellence achievements without thinking about the financial burden, Insya Allah,” Anwar said in his Facebook post, Tuesday.

The Tambun Member of Parliament said that at the Cakna MADANI Programme together with students sponsored by JPA, Higher Education Institutions (IPT) held in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) today.

According to Anwar he had the opportunity to interact with students via questions relating to current issues and involving students’ interests in the country. –Malaysia World News
