PUTRAJAYA MAY 31: The government’s offer to screen test the illegal immigrants for COVID-19 during the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) had been closed as now the Department Immigration of Malaysia (DIM)will only search, detain and place them in the depots.
Security and Senior Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, when the government offered them to have screen test on COVID-19 without focusing on their documents, no illegal immigrant comes out to accept the offer.
Ismail said, the offer was made following many illegal immigrants were detected with positive COVID-19 when the government enforced the EMCO in certain areas.
“Now the search for illegal immigrants will continue even after the CMCO and if they are caught they will be sent to the Immigration Detention Depots.
“Those negative from COVID-19 will be sent back to their countries and those detected positive will be sent to the temporary hospital in MAEPS, Serdang. There will not be pardoned by the government,” Ismail said in his daily press conference held here today.
Ismail said that on a question of whether thousands of illegal immigrants who are still at large are able to do swab test for COVID-19 following the government’s offer or being pardoned from the offence. –Malaysia World News
