PUTRAJAYA JAN.17: The building of a new Football Association Malaysia (FAM) Head Office at Presinct 5 here this year will be the source of strength for the association’s management to form a strong national football team to compete internationally.
Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, everybody hopes that FAM could develop skilled human capital in technical, management, refereeing and coaching aspects.
“In line with the development and as a supporter of the “Harimau Malaya” team and representative of Malaysian Family, I hope FAM will prioritise excellence via better and concrete preparations before participating in any championship so that our team will not be defeated easily.
“I understand that the development of football should not be shouldered by FAM only but as a national agenda with the support of the related ministry, government linked company (GLC) and private sectors that could contribute in the form of material and physical.
“With the help of the human capital in FAM, the national football body could guarantee the returns of investment (ROI) to fulfil the demands of sponsors,” Ismail said in his speech at the ground breaking event of FAM building on a six acre land here today.
At the same event, Ismail Sabri announced a RM10 million contribution from the Federal Government to FAM this year.
He said, the contribution is a reflection that the government supports the development and progress of the local football.
Ismail said, the building will be named as Kompleks FAM Sultan Ahmad Shah that will continue the legacy left by the late Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah in national football. He was the President of FAM from 1984 until 2014.
“This is the highest recognition that we can accord as an effort to continue the legacy of Almarhum for his contribution in the national football,” Ismail said. – Malaysia World News
