Kuala Lumpur: On a question regarding Bandar Tun Razak Umno Division Chief Rizalman Mokhtar who was detained for drug positive in his urine test recently, Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said he hopes that no party will make any allegation against him until he has been investigated and judged by the court.
“We do not want the media or members of the public to punish him with negative perceptions but instead give him a chance to defend himself.
“I hope no party will take opportunity on this case,” he said when asked about Rizalman’s case yesterday during the presentation of Best Service Awards (APC) and Medals for Services and Best Character (PPT) to MAF and Mindef staff at the Auditorium, Wisma Pertahanan.
As Vice President of Umno, he said, according to Umno rules, “any member found guilty of an offence will face the judgement according to the law.”
Rizalman Mokhtar admitted he was arrested during a police raid at a karaoke centre in Kuala Lumpur, after allegedly testing positive for drugs.
However, he denied he used drugs. He said he was only having coffee at the nightclub.
He also claims that the operation was only a ploy to attack his reputation.
“If the reports saying that I am positive are right, I am sure it is a set-up to tarnish my good name,” he said during a press conference on Wednesday (April 4).
