
Prior to the nomination process held at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Convention Hall, Datuk Nizar Mohd Najib had sought blessings from his mother, Tengku Puteri Zainah Tengku Eskandar, the ex wife of Najib Razak.
Nizar, who is also Pekan Umno Youth Leader, has been nominated as Barisan Nasional (BN)’s candidate for state legislative assembly and he is now contesting in the Peramu Jaya state seat for the 15th General Election (GE15).
A photo of Nizar kissing the hand of his mother has gone viral today as it was shared by thousands of his supporters on social media.
Commenting on the photo, Nizar said, “It is our tradition to seek blessings from our parents whenever we want to do something good. Parental blessing is very important.”
Talking to the media, his mother said: “I hope he (Nizar) will receive mandate from the people in Peramu Jaya so that he can provide them with the best service possible.”

Nizar has 13 years of consulting and audit experience for Government, multi-national companies and listed and private enterprises. Prior to joining Deloitte Consulting, he was attached to Deloitte’s Audit and Assurance arm, and prior to that, he was an analyst of the Communications and Hi-Tech team with Accenture. He has a Bachelor of Arts from University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. He is also an Associate Chartered Accountant qualified with the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW), and a licensed corporate finance practitioner with the Securities Commission.
Nizar is the eldest from 3 siblings of YM Tengku Puteri Zainah Tengku Eskandar. And he is the first grand son to Tun Haji Abdul Razak bin Dato’ Hussein the second prime minister of Malaysia. His youngest brother is Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin bin Dato’ Sri Najib and his sister is Puteri Norlisa Dato’ Sri Najib.
Norlisa was recommended in IFLR 1000 for Highly Regarded Leading Lawyer in 2018 and a Leading Lawyer in Financial and Corporate in 2017. She began her legal career in 2005 at Eversheds LLP, London UK where she trained and practised as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales with a specialisation in banking. Upon her return to Malaysia she was called to the bar in 2009.
His wife is Datin Nur Sharmila binti Dato Seri Shaheen, Pengarah Eksekutif Securiforce Logistik Sdn Bhd. The couple have 5 beautiful kids, all boys.
At the nomination day today in Pekan, hundreds of supporters from Pekan and Pahang have come all the way to show support to the young leader Nizar and his family.
Nizar said, he had also met his father and sought his blessings.
“Dad was very happy to know I was nominated as a people’s representative in the Peramu Jaya state assembly and he prays for my success,” he said.
Talking to Malaysia World News, Nizar said his vision is to bring up economy development for Pekan people and ensure more employment for all.
“Pekan youths deserve rights to employment and decent living,” he said.
He also aims to establish an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant here in Pekan which will provide more jobs and help raise the economic status in the state, he added. – Malaysia World News
