PUTRAJAYA JULY 16: Four illegal immigrants (PATI) from Pakistan aged between 26-44years were detained at a famous Cheese Naan restaurant in Bangi, Selangor on 14th July 2022 after public reported  concern on the chefs’ typhoid vaccination status and their personal documentations.

Malaysia Immigration Director General, Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud said, the QRT Unit from the Operation, Investigation and Prosecution Malaysia Immigration Headquarters Putrajaya, with 12 Immigration Officers had ambushed the premises at 10pm.

Khairul said, upon checking it was found that four males from Pakistan were working as chefs making Cheese Naan and as cleaners at the restaurant and all of them were without any valid documentation.

“Inspections were also conducted at the workers’ hostel nearby the restaurant. The four illegal immigrants were taken to the Putrajaya Immigration Depot for further investigation,” said Khairul in a statement here today.

Meanwhile, he said, two notices had been released to the local workers who were present at the premises when the ambush was conducted to give their statements.

“Immigration Department of Malaysia (IDM) would like to remind the people especially the employer not to protect and employ illegal immigrants. Stern legal actions will be taken upon them if found guilty.

“They do not only breach the law but also put the customers on high risk especially restaurants and premises where food is being prepared,” said Khairul.

According to the statement, IDM appreciates the public’s cooperation and awareness in channelling information on the PATI and employers hiring them.

“Members of the public are urged to give information directly to IDM so that enforcement actions could be implemented on the PATI and employers who are still stubborn,” said Khairul.-Malaysia World News
