KUALA LUMPUR FEB.8: The foreign embassies have no authority to issue any form of passes to allow their citizens to stay in Malaysia even on temporary basis.
Immigration Director General, Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud said, the visas and passes for foreign citizens to stay or work in Malaysia will only be issued by the Immigration Department.
“The department would like to emphasize that outside party has no right to intervene into the sovereign affairs and the law of the country,” he said in a statement today.
Khairul is responding to the statement made by a non-governmental organisation (NGO) Migrant Care that was posted by the news portal Malaysiakini on 7th Feb.2023 entitled “The foreigners’ placement in Nilai Spring is not illegal.”
He added, the facts cannot be denied by any party that those who had been detained in the integrated operation were illegal immigrants (PATI). No party can question the reasons for Immigration Department to implement such operation as it is the core duty of the department to eradicate PATI.
“Malaysians too had been convicted by the foreign countries if they had breached the immigration laws of the country. Hence, all parties have to respect the rule of law of a country,” Khairul reiterated. –Malaysia World News
