Putrajaya – Five Felda officials have been remanded as part of investigations into alleged corruption and power abuse over sturgeon farming worth RM47.6 million.
The five are Felda’s former director-general, ex-deputy- director general (strategic resources), the former operations officer in charge of sturgeon farming project in Taman Negara, the current head of its London Properties, and an assistant administration officer.
The five were allowed to be remanded for a week by Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab. Rahman under Section 18 of the Malaysia Anti-Corruption (MACC) Act, which carries a fine at least five times the amount of corruption and a maximum of 20 years imprisonment upon conviction.
They were hauled by MACC officials at several locations in Klang Valley on Tuesday between 11.30 to 1.30pm. They are between 30 to 57 years old.
The Felda officials are the latest government-linked company (GLC) to be investigated by the MACC.
