Financial assistance up to RM61,000 for each flood victim whose house damaged–PM Ismail

KUALA LUMPUR DEC.31: For those who have lost their homes following the recent floods that hit eight states nationwide, the government will provide cash money for repair works if the damages are not serious and build new houses if they incur total lost.

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, for houses not seriously damaged RM5, 000 will be given to each family and for serious damages the government will manage the repair works up to RM15, 000 and for totally damaged houses the government will give financial assistance to build a new house up to RM56, 000.

However, for those who encountered total losses over their houses, Ismail said, the government aid can reach up to RM61, 000.

Ismail added, towards the end of 2021, the country has been tested with the unusual flood disaster in Selangor, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan and other states that resulted in 48 deaths.

“In view of many household equipments have been damaged in the floods, the government is giving out RM500 cash vouchers to purchase electrical appliances as a replacement for every family affected by the disaster.

“The purchase could be done on the e-commerce platform that has been recognised by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. The programme will start on 7th January 2022,” Ismail said in his New Year 2022 special message telecasted on TV1 here this evening.

The Prime Minister added, on the whole, each flood victim will receive RM10, 000 via the head of every household. This is the government effort to reduce the prople’s burden without having to withdraw money from the Employment Providend Fund (EPF).

With this effort he said, the contributors will retain their savings and will enjoy the annual dividend of around 5 per cent and enable them to plan their future after retirement.

On another development Ismail said, for the first time the amount of trade has reached RM2 trillion following the growth of 24.6 per cent for the period January-November 2021 compared to the same period last year.

“The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Malaysia also increases to 3.0 per cent within the first nine months of 2021. As the indicator for the active economy at the cosumers level, the wholesale trade and retail sales have recorded a rise of 5.4 per cent to RM116.4 billion on October 2021.

“For the togetherness and gratitude concept and no one is left behind, I will be the head of the Government’s Poverty Eradication intiative via the formation of the Poverty Unit that will be established at the Federal, State and District level to handle poverty issues and income gaps. This covers the poverty in the cities and in the rural areas,” Ismail reiterated. –Malaysia World News
