KUALA LUMPUR: Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz has been abroad, on a mission to attract foreign investments and strengthen the country’s economic recovery post Covid-19 pandemic, his deputy Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah said today.
The question about the Finance Minister`s whereabout has been raised following his absence at several sessions at the Dewan Rakyat last week, with some speculations went to allege that he has resigned from his post as a minister.
“The minister is abroad to ensure investors are confident with the country’s economic performance and what is being implemented by the government.
“This is to ensure the country achieves the actual level of recovery this year,” Mohd Shahar told the parliament today while he was responding to Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah (Parti Pejuang Tanah Air – Kubang Pasu) who was asking what happened to Tengku Zafrul.
In a Facebook post, Tengku Zafrul had previously denied he has resigned as the finance minister as some social media speculated.
