PUTRAJAYA JUNE 1: Community leaders are requested to constantly remind the people to adhere to the new norms and comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) during festivals that have been set by the government.
Security and Senior Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the people should have good personal hygiene and social distancing of one meter from each other.
“Today the people in Sarawak are celebrating Hari Gawai and I hope they will celebrate it preferably with the family members on the first day of the festival only.
“A family is only allowed to welcome 20 people besides complying strictly with the SOP,” he said in his daily press conference held here today.
Ismail also reminded the leaders in Sabah including the heads of ethnic groups, political leaders, non-governmental organisations’ (NGO) leaders, and voluntary groups to instill awareness amongst the people on the new norms
“The new norms should become the culture of the day, especially when celebrating the Pesta Keamatan in Sabah.
“The new norms should be adopted by each individual in the community and it is only by adhering to the SOP that the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) could end,” he said.
In another development, Ismail said, today there are no scheduled flights to Sarawak in conjunction with Hari Gawai and Pesta Keamatan in Sabah.
Ismail said, there are 1,617 students still staying on the campuses and the Ministry of Higher Education is planning to send them back soon to their families.
“From April 27 until today, the ministry has sent 56,814 students from the institutions of higher education to their families in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak,” Ismail said. –Malaysia World News
