Female sergeant died in Lebanon after returning for holidays in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: A Non-Commissioned Officer, (PTTK) from the Malaysian Batallion 850-11 (MALBATT 850-11) for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Sergeant Faridah Abd. Rahman was confirmed dead in Lebanon, May 18 2024 (Saturday) at 2.25am or 7.25am Malaysian time.

The Malaysian Armed Forces’ Headquarters in a statement said, the late Sergeant had worked as the MALBATT 850-11 Senior Supervisor of Islamic Affairs at Marakah Camp, Lebanon.

“The Sergeant was confirmed dead by MALBATT 850-11 Medical Officer when she collapsed after coming down from a bus at Marakah Camp. At that time Allahyarhamah just came back to Lebanon after completing her leave in Malaysia,” the statement said.

The statement added, Allahyarhamah’s body will be taken to Hammoud Hospital, Saida for post-mortem to identify the cause of the death.

However the post-mortem process had been implemented on May 19, 2024 (Sunday) 10.30am Lebanese time or 3.30pm Malaysian time.

“Allahyarhamah, 39 years old was from Pendang, Kedah and she joined the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) since 2007 and was assigned in the Military Religious Corps (KAGAT). Earlier Allahyarhamah was working as Senior Supervisor Islamic Affairs in the Royal Malay Regiment (MEKANIZE), Airport Camp, Sungai Petani, Kedah before joining the MALBATT 850-11 UNIFIL Mission,” the statement said.

According to the statement, Allahyarhamah was married with four children including three daughters and a son aged between four till 10 years old.-Malaysia World News
