KUALA LUMPUR: The Chairman of Perikatan Nasional (PN) Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will proceed with his defamation suit against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim since the latter had failed to submit an unconditional and open apology within 24 hours as contained in the lawyer’s demand letter to him.

Muhyiddin said, he had instructed his lawyer to proceed with a defamation suit against Anwar after he failed to fulfil the demand.

Muhyiddin said, Anwar had made a media statement on the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) settlers’ debt waiver and had released a document to proof that he was telling the truth.

“However the document that he released was not on the Felda settlers’debt waiver agreement but an agreement on the government backed Sukuk.

“Before this I had explained several times that the document signed by Anwar was about Sukuk and not the Felda settlers’ debt waiver.

The exposure of the document is a proof that I am telling the truth and Anwar is lying and has slandered me,” Muhyiddin said in a statement on Friday.

According to Muhyiddin as the former prime minister, the Ministry of Finance in its media statement today had confirmed on the government’s guarantee amounting RM9.9 billion and not the Felda settlers’ debt waiver at RM8.3 billion that he had settled in 2021.

The Pagoh Member of Parliament added, the Sukuk document that Anwar had released showed that he did not understand the content of the document that he had signed as a Minister of Finance. – Malaysia World News
