Faculty of Communications and Media Studies UiTM maintains its entity and not merged with other faculties – MoHE

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) has decided that the Faculty of Communications and Media Studies (FKPM), UiTM maintains its single entity and not merged with the Faculty Computer Science & Mathematics and Faculty Science Information as announced by UiTM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Roziah Janor, October 2022.

MoHE Director General, Prof. Datuk Dr. Husaini Omar said, the ministry had studied in detail the proposal and feedback from various parties since the issue was brought to his attention and felt that the matter should not be delayed.

Meanwhile the President of Masscomm Alumni Association, Basree Rakijan records his highest appreciation on the Ministry’s positive reaction towards the protest lodged by the association recently.

“The FKPM was established 50 years ago and had contributed greatly to the country’s development and as such it should be empowered in the challenging digital communication era.

“The alumni will continue to cooperate with FKPM to implement several programmes that have been identified to ensure the industry-university networks are being streamlined in the efforts to produce competent FKPM graduates,” Basree said.

Also present at the meeting with Dr. Husaini Omar was the Special Function Officer to the Minister of Higher Education, Noor Azleen Ambros who said that the Masscomm brand is synonym with UiTM and it needs to be empowered.

Also present at the meeting with Dr. Husaini Omar was UiTM Vice Chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Roziah Janor, Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Computer Studies, Informatics and Media College, Prof. Dr. Haryani Haron and Head of Communications and Media Studies UiTM, Dr. Wan Hartini Wan Zainoddin. – Malaysia World News
