Pakistani former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife have been sentenced to 17 years in corruption case.

The Pakistani court has found them guilty of illegally retaining and selling state gifts, including valuable jewellery from Saudi Arabia, at significantly below market value.

The ruling came after accusations that they purchased gifts for $10,000 despite a market rate of $285,521, according to Aljazeera.

The couple has denied the allegations, with Khan’s party labeling the trial as unfair and lacking proof of intent or benefit.

However, officials insist the conviction was based on solid evidence of corruption, culminating in a sentence announced within Adiala prison.
