Every 100 year new virus born

Each 100 years the world appears to be suffering from new pandemics, whenever  the numbers of the year meet together or have repeated numbers like 1818, 1919, 2020 etc. Such years of similar or repeated numbers have brought with them something different and unique, which is – a new virus causing a global health crisis.

In 1818 (1818), a severe fever virus plagued London and many regions. The 200-year ago also marked the beginning of the first cholera pandemic, also known as the first Asiatic cholera pandemic which found cure only after 1824.

According to research, the first cholera pandemic started at the end of 1817, and became severe by 1818. It was originated in the city of Calcutta and spread throughout Southeast Asia to the Middle East, eastern Africa and the Mediterranean coast, and reached as far as China and the Mediterranean Sea before subsiding. Hundreds of thousands of people  were reportedly died of the pandemic.

By early 1919 the influenza pandemic became the most severe pandemic in recent history. It was caused by an H1N1 virus with genes of avian origin.

The virus spread worldwide during 1918-1919, and nobody knew where was it originated from.

Mortality was high among young people between 20-40 years old, and 65 years and older, according to reports.

And people were also urged to stay at home, practice self quarantine in isolation and good personal hygiene, use disinfectants, avoid public gatherings, and wear masks.

Now in year 2020 ( 20-20) the world has again been doomed in another new global health pandemic called ‘Coronavirus’ or “Covid-19” originated from Wuhan China since December 2019 and became very serious and severe by early 2020 that it killed more than 40,000 and infected at least 782,213 worldwide as of today Sunday 5th March and the number is still on the rise day after day.

Maybe these incidents occurred in a coincidence, or maybe something else beyond our capacity. Scientists might have been wondering into why after every 100 year a new virus is born!

The following old poem could tell a lot.  The poem is believed to be written during the 1919 Pandemic by Kathleen O’Mara:

And people stayed at home

And read books

And listened

And they rested

And did exercises

And made art and played

And learned new ways of being

And stopped and listened

More deeply

Someone meditated, someone prayed

Someone met their shadow

And people began to think differently

And people healed.

And in the absence of people who

Lived in ignorant ways

Dangerous, meaningless and heartless,

The earth also began to heal

And when the danger ended and

People found themselves

They grieved for the dead

And made new choices

And dreamed of new visions

And created new ways of living

And completely healed the earth

Just as they were healed.
