LONDON: While some countries are struggling to curb the spread of the virus and stop the increasing number of cases, Britain has lifted all restrictions, saying it`s high time everyone should be responsible for oneself.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that the British government has eased all restrictions, including social distancing, wearing masks and working from home, starting from (July 19).
He pointed out that “we cannot wait any longer… The virus will cause more damages if the country is destroyed economically.”
Wearing masks will be important only in closed crowded places where people meet (such as public transport) but not required by law.
“We will move away from legal restrictions and allow people to make their own informed decisions about how to manage the virus.” said Boris Johnson.
There are now no limits on how many people can meet or attend events; nightclubs reopened at midnight.
The announcement comes amid a third wave of the pandemic, with rates of infection at their highest since February this year as the Delta variant spreads throughout the country.
