Employers allowed to hire foreign workers apart from traditional source countries – PM Ismail

PUTRAJAYA JULY 19: The government had set until end of July 2022 to solve the problem of hiring foreign workers via physical meetings between the Ministry of Human Resources, Ministry of Home Affairs together with the industry players, business organisation and other related parties.

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the industry players have been facing with critical shortage of workers and the government is increasing cooperation with the private sectors through continuous engagements.

Ismail said, the Economic Action Council Meeting that he chaired this morning had decided that employers should consider taking foreign workers from the source country that have been approved and not dependent only on the traditional source country.

“The Ministry of Human Resources is urged to speed-up the implementation of the interview process by the employer by increasing the number of interviewers at the One Stop Centre (OSC) following the zones and states.

“MyMudah programme had been implemented at the ministry level by the Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) to reduce bureaucracies.

“However still many complaints have been received from the industries. MPC had been asked to solve the issues related to bureaucracies via strengthening of MyMudah programme,” Ismail said in a statement.

Ismail added, 30 per cent of the issues received through MyMudah had been solved in less than 60 days as targeted. The government urged the MPC to try to solve the complex cases also in 60 days.

The Prime Minister said, the MPC should immediately set the MyMudah Unit for the ministry that has not implemented it. MyMudah should also be formed at the local authorities to ensure the bureaucracies’ issues are able to be improved.

Meanwhile, Ismail also emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry to implement immediately the programmes related to national food security that had been agreed by the government.

Ismail added, the government always ensures the problems faced by the industry players be solved immediately via cooperation by all parties to guarantee the happiness of the Malaysian Family as a whole and inclusive. –Malaysia World News
