PUTRAJAYA: The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leadership urges the people to elevate their education level and have good command in English language starting 2024 in order to be part of the national economic growth.

PKR President, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, the priority to speak and write in Bahasa Malaysia and the status of the Malays and Bumiputera remain as stated in Article 153 of the Federal Constitution.

However Anwar cited, regardless whether it is Malay, Chinese or Tamil school, the government had improved and uplifted all poor schools with equal standard.

“How do you compare a poor school in Kapit, Sarawak with the best school in Kuala Lumpur,” he said in his speech at the PKR Annual National Congress held at the Putrajaya International Conference Centre here, Saturday.

Anwar stressed that justice is about fairness and in this context meritocracy cannot be too extreme.

Prime Minister, Anwar also highlighted that certain quarters had extremely dragged the race idealism apart from accusing other Muslims as infidels.

“We will never allow any party to humiliate or “twist” the religion and race issue in order to gain support from the people,” he said at the Congress with the theme “Memaknai Reformasi Menjulang Madani.”

The PKR president also reminded the party members not to hurry in making changes but through wisdom, patience and defend the principles of the party.

He added, PKR as one of the coalition parties in the Unity Government has already formulated a plan to address the national problem and save the country. When the new government came into power the deficit was 56 per cent with national debts amounting to RM1.5 trillion.

“Now the unemployment rate had dropped to 34 per cent with more than 266,000 people had been employed while the inflation rate dropped to 1.8 per cent from 4 per cent,” he said.

The Tambun Member of Parliament stressed, to help the people to generate income especially in the villages, the government will allocate RM100, 000 or at least RM50, 000 to the community where the people will decide themselves what to do with the allocation and not the experts or the politicians.

The Prime Minister added, there are allegations that Islam has been threatened with the band performance and the Syariah Laws in Kelantan has also been challenged in the court.

“The Kelantan Syariah law had been challenged in 2021 and who was the Prime Minister and the Law Minister at that time? Why no action was taken at that time?” he asked. –Malaysia World News
