PUTRAJAYA MAY 15: The Election Commission of Malaysia (ECM) has announced the Chini State Assembly by-election will be held on July 4 while the naming of candidates on June 20 and early vote casting on Jun 30
The Chairman of ECM, Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun said, the by-election is held following the death of State Assemblyman of Chini, Pahang, Datuk Seri Abu Bakar Harun , 60 from Barisan Nasional on May 7.
Azhar said, the by-election will be held following the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) standard operating procedure (SOP) with the assistance of the National Security Council (NSC), National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) Ministry of Health and Royal Police of Malaysia (RPM).
He said, a special SOP will be formed to implement the by-election during the CMCO bearing in mind the COVID-19 pandemic.
“There will be 132 staff involved in the by-election processes while casting of votes will be held at 14 stations with 66 polling channels,” he said in a special press conference here today.
He said, the Pekan National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) main hall will be used for the nomination and vote tallying processes.
In the 14th General Election Azhar secured 4,622 majorities to defeating Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Mohamad Razali Ithnain and Pas candidate Mohd. Fadhil Noor Abdul Karim.-Malaysia World News
