PUTRAJAYA: Malaysian Family should mobilize their energy to spend time in cultivating the sustainability practices for the continuity of the future generation.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, in conjunction with the Earth Day Celebration on April 22 with the theme “Invest in Our Planet” all Malaysians should avoid using plastic once, save the source of energy and these practices should be the normalcy in their lives.
“I would like to invite the private sectors and government linked companies (GLC) to play their roles together in the efforts towards the sustainability of the environment.
“In line with the Eight Focus in the 12th Malaysia Plan (MP-12) that is Speed- up Green Growth, the economic growth should not affect the environment, while the coverage of green areas should be defended,” Ismail said in a statement here today.
Ismail added, the efforts to speed up the green growth, elevate the energy sustainability and transformation of the water sector should be the pillar of the national economic growth.
The Prime Minister stressed that the government is committed to reduce the intensity of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions up to 45 per cent towards the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2030 based on the 2005 emissions’ intensity that is in line with the aspiration to make Malaysia as a low carbon country.
“I am aware that the national aspiration needs an integrated effort, commitment and high green investment. However, I am confident the commitment and involvement of Malaysian Family will ensure Malaysia will be at par with the effort of other countries to achieve the global target in addressing the climate change and to increase the national competency,” Ismail reiterated.- Malaysia World News
