Dr M says Najib might receive a royal pardon like Anwar Ibrahim

PETALING JAYA: There is a 50-50 chance that Najib Razak will receive a royal pardon and return to politics, Dr Mahathir Mohamad said.

“He will come back and he wants to become the prime minister once again,” Mahathir told Bloomberg in an interview today.

Mahathir said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong could pardon Najib in the same way the opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim was given one in 2018.

When PH won the election in 2018 Mahathir sought a full royal pardon for Anwar Ibrahim.

“Of course he (Najib) is going to ask for a pardon” if he is jailed, said Mahathir.

Najib is facing his final court appeal tomorrow (August 23).
