Former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir suggested the new government should not call for the vote of confidence in the parliament the soonest.

He said Malaysia might become a world’s laughing stock if Ismail fails to prove he has majority in the parliament and we have to change the Prime Minister again.

“I don’t think (we need to have a confidence vote for the prime minister), we do not want to have another change of the prime minister again.

“If he (Ismail Sabri) does not get the majority, we will have to change to another (prime minister)… so the world is laughing (at us), we do not want to let (this government) fall,” said Mahathir, as reported by Astro Awani.
