KUALA LUMPUR JULY 28: A history has been recorded today when the Dewan Rakyat passed anti-party-hopping law with the support of two third majority.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the Bill had been approved via split votes with 209 Members of Parliament (MPs) had voted to support; nobody was against or neutral, while 11 had been absent.
“Thank you to all the honoured MPs whether from the government block, opposition and independent who had recorded a history today.
“Congratulations to all the MPS in this noble hall who had carried out the people’s trust via the Parliamentary Democracy system.
“The Bill had been produced after several engagements, opinion sessions and through bi-partisan Special Select Committee involving main party representatives in the Dewan Rakyat,” Ismail said in a statement today.
The Prime Minister said, the Bill is very important in ensuring the long period of political stability.
“Thanks to all 54 honoured MPs who had participated in the debate session and had given their opinions. This was a clear sign that honourable MPs had practised matured politics based on Malaysian Family by considering the interest and the happiness of the people in whatever plan and implementation that is to be carried out,” Ismail reiterated.-Malaysia World News
