KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh has suggested Putrajaya should deport Muslim preacher Dr Zakir Naik to Saudi Arabia as this latter has a saudi citizenship.
The MP said, Malaysian government should send him to Saudi Arabia if it does not want to extradite him to India.
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir has recently said that Malaysia would not deport the Muslim preacher to India as he is worried that the Indian government may discriminate and kill him.
“It has been reported that Zakir was granted citizenship in Saudi Arabia in 2017 although the status of his said citizenship today is unclear.
“If Zakir is a Saudi citizen, Malaysia must forthwith take the necessary steps to send him there, assuming his life would be in danger if he were to be sent back to India which remains a bare assertion.
“Surely, Saudi Arabia would be willing to take Zakir if it has given him citizenship,” the DAP MP said in a statement, the Malay Mail reported.
India authority accuses Dr Zakir of money laundering and extremism incitement and wants him back to India to face charges
