DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng hit that his party has clearly informed PKR president Anwar Ibrahim that “cooperation with Umno is not on the table”.
Lim `s comment came after PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that PKR “respects” Umno’s reaffirmation of their support for Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Two days ago, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has reaffirmed his party’s support for Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin after the opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim claimed that he has the majority support of the MPs and that he could form a new government.
Zahid`s announcement that UMNO is still supporting Muhyiddin Yassin has cleared suspicions that UMNO MPs wanted to give support to Anwar Ibrahim or to join PKR.
DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang also commented that Umno`s move might have happened after having discovered it did not have PAS’ full support to join Pakatan Harapan (PH).
“Maybe the Umno leadership has found, to its shock, that it could find no support from PAS in the game of thrones, and that if the game comes to a crunch, it can neither expect PAS to come on board nor a united Umno parliamentary bloc to blindly support the decision of Zahid and (former premier) Najib Abdul Razak.
